A TV Series & its Books

I started watching Game of Thrones in the beginning of 2015. At first, I was aghast seeing some parts of it but gradually, it got intriguing. With time, I began to judge the characters – love some, hate some, placed some in the clueless category. And George R R Martin never let me rest in peace.

Before I knew, I had finished four seasons and the fifth season fever had gripped the world. I decided I wouldn’t watch it until I read all the books but Facebook was filled with spoilers. I chanced upon the biggest spoiler of season 5 on a friend’s wall and then decided it was better to watch it than to hear it out of the blue.

100 Happy Days – Day 78

Happiness is reading a book after a lot of deliberation and finding it to be awesome!

After a long wait, finally, I got hold of a copy of the legendary series – A Song of Ice and Fire. I am reading it now! 😀

I always prefer reading the book before watching the movie. It is mainly due to Harry Potter. Had I watched the movie first, I wouldn’t have fallen for the series. The book has the essence of it and ever since I realised that, I am careful about what I watch.

In this case, I had to read it. The series had so much impact on me that I was sure the books would have more. I was right. I am not bored even though I know what happens. There is more to the story than what is given in the series.

Thrikkarthika

I had begun the #100HappyDays challenge in July. But I couldn’t carry out the challenge the way it is supposed to be carried out. I missed a day or two in between and finally, when I had to study, I stopped it entirely.

Earlier, when something like this happened, I used to stop it midway only to start again. But this time, I decided that I would continue the challenge. Rules can be broken and when it is for the sake of something related to happiness, it doesn’t matter at all. Hence, here I continue the challenge:

Day 60

Happiness is Thrikkarthika/ Karthikai Vilakku

Due to my exams, I couldn’t celebrate Navaratri or Deepavali. So, when I realised that it was Karthika the day after exams, I decided I would celebrate it. Though we didn’t keep many lamps, the few we kept looked beautiful.

It looked all the more lovely with our neighbour’s set of lamps.

My little friend from upstairs also joined me. We arranged the lamps, distributed sweets and then took lots of selfies. 😀

Just like Raksha Bandhan, during Karthikai, sisters pray for their brothers while brothers give gifts. I met a very good friend of mine and he gave me a gift that day. Since I do not have any brothers, I felt very happy.

Yet again, time proved that some things, no matter how tiny they are, mean a lot to us. The joy is always in the little things. 🙂

Day 2 – Playing Games With Friends

100 Happy Days – Day 2

Happiness is playing indoor games with friends.

This is something that happens very rarely. As you know from my previous post, our exams just got over. And this time, I really studied my brains out. I was looking forward to some nice activity after exams and sure enough it has been quite good so far (apart from my allergic eyes).

Last night, three of us – two very good friends of mine and I – decided to go for a movie today. Trust me, there are so many movies left to watch for all three of us since we all had exams. So we had lots of options. One by one, we cut each of our options and finally ended up meeting at my place. 😛 Ahh yes! World’s weird ways, that is exactly how plans work. Unplanned!

So, the idea was to play some indoor games. UNO, Sorry, Carroms, Monopoly etc were some of the games in the list. We ended up playing three of them and it was so much fun. At one point of time, while drawing cards from the UNO pile, we ended up laughing non stop. The reason being… well, I don’t want to spoil a joke by explaining it. So, let it be.

Anyhow, some of them find the idea of getting together under a roof and playing some indoor games stupid. One thing I always felt was that, it doesn’t matter where you are, nor does it matter what you do. All that matters is the company. If you have a bunch of people who would laugh with you for anything and everything, they will laugh with you anywhere. 🙂

So, do call up your old friends and play some games. Do let me know if you enjoyed.

PS – If you haven’t played UNO, do try. The cards cost very less and it is so much fun to play.
