30 Day Book Challenge – Day 23- Most Overrated Book
Fifty Shades of Grey
I knew what I was laying my hands on when I picked up the book. But I really wasn’t expecting this:
- A story about a girl (Ana) who couldn’t hold herself together after setting her eyes on a hot guy (Grey). I mean, she either tripped or went all gaga wanting to kiss him.
- And should I say about Grey, I would just give him one name, A Demigod. I mean he was pictured to be perfect. Frankly, I loved the description about him. But what I couldn’t digest was, he could do just about anything. Bug the girl’s phone even without touching it (Really!?), be at the right place to rescue her when she was all drunk, and why not!? He had lots of money and a driver/security who just about did anything for him (Which includes buying lingerie for his newly met girlfriend).
- The weirdest part, he could chain her, spank her and do all the supposedly ‘normal’ things but he couldn’t handle a cuddle. *Kill me already*
- Oh! How do I forget? Nor should she bite her lips. What I never understood was, Ana was never hungry. But she chewed her lips all the time. Specially when he asked her not to.
Throughout I imagined a girl who kept gnawing at her own lips. eew!
I just read the 1st book and that was it. I struggled to even write this much about the book. Because, everything about the book sucked!
U r amazing ranju. When i started reading this post i thought this book has really impressed you beyond expectation and eventually i get all ur point straight haha .. 🙂 thanks .i din read this .

Haha I feared people would think that way. But thank God! It looks like all get the negative vibes loud and clear. 😀
You can read it if you want. It is just that you will get bored halfway through. (Just my opinion)

Haha oh my! I feel the fumes. I mean, if a book lover decides to burn a book, it must be that bad. 😀 count me in! (Thankfully, I don’t possess the book)

That was funny. I read all three!!! (Do I deserve an award for it??)
I agree with your points. Second one is even more pathetic. Third one is like a masala bollywood movie!

Hahaha *slow claps* you do deserve an award. Oh! Glad that I did not pick up the 2nd part.
I am not against people liking the book. I am just pissed off coz too many good comments made me read the book and wasted my time. 😛

It was way over hyped, I agree. And there are much more erotic romances out there, I still don’t understand what was the reason behind the hype.

I have read a lot about this book but was never interested in reading it. Some people call it the erotic bible, but as always, books like these are over-rated… thanks for saving me the trouble of reading it and getting bugged on my own 😀

Being erotic literature is one thing. But when a huge crowd was giving the green signal, I assumed would be some impressive content too. But it merely seemed like the author kept forgetting that it was also a story.

Shows you why a crowd is usually wrong. We are bombarded by so much BS that people think their lives are boring and feel that such books must be the reality. Little realising that relationships are about little things… Not just fun and games…

No, I mean there are so many better books awaiting their limelite. Unfortunately, sleaze seems to get lapped up. Atleast let it be good sensuality. How about that in your next list – the best sensual scenes in books?

Wow! That seems like a good one. Just when I was wondering what next. But I don’t remember any of the scenes. Hm, this will need some thinking. 🙂

I like Ayn Rand’s scenes. They are somehow unexpected from her intellectual setup, but they do leave a visual impact.
